What Is Euroshield?
Euroshield is a roofing product made largely from recycled rubber — up to around 95% — sourced from used tyres. A single house diverts somewhere between several hundred and a thousand tyres from landfill. That is the environmental story, and it is real, but it is not the reason we fit it in North Texas.
Why It Matters Specifically Here
Rubber deforms and recovers. Where hail cracks a tile, shatters slate or bruises the mat of an asphalt shingle, a rubber shingle absorbs the strike and returns to shape. In a market where hail is the single biggest cause of roof replacement, that is the argument. Everything else about the product is a bonus.
Professional Euroshield Installation In Dallas
It installs differently from asphalt, and the profiles are heavier and less forgiving of a rushed job. It is worth using a crew that has fitted it before, because the failure mode of a poorly installed rubber roof is not obvious until it matters.
Benefits Of Euroshield Roofs
- Class 4 impact performance — the practical benefit in a hail market, and often an insurance discount
- Resists cracking and warping through Texas heat cycling
- Slate and cedar shake profiles at a fraction of the weight of either
- No mould, mildew or rot, because there is nothing organic in it
- Long manufacturer warranties, and a genuine recycled-content story
The Honest Trade-Offs
It costs more per square than asphalt. Fewer crews in this market have installed it, so workmanship varies more than it does on shingle. And the appearance, while good, is an interpretation of slate or shake rather than the real thing. If hail is your main concern and you plan to stay in the house, it still tends to be the right call.
What It Costs
Material, labour, roof size and complexity all move the number, so we do not quote it sight unseen. The inspection and the written estimate are free, and it is worth asking your insurer what a Class 4 roof does to your premium before you decide — that answer sometimes changes the maths.
